Getting ahead of antimicrobial resistance

Role: Product Manager

Trained by: Silicon Valley Product Group, Mind the Product, Nielsen Norman Group

Team: 1 UX Designer, 1 UX Researcher, 5 UX Engineers

Goal: Increase healthcare professionals’ awareness of rising levels of antibiotic resistance in preparation for a multi-million antibiotic launch

Antimicrobial resistance is recognised as one of the greatest threats to human health worldwide. Antibiotics are becoming less and less effective, in part due to over-prescription and inappropriate use. New antibiotic development has slowed to a standstill due to market failure and regulatory disincentives. With the number of diseases caused by resistance bacteria increasing, awareness of antibiotic resistance and new antibiotic treatments are necessary.

Key accomplishments:

  • Built a new data product to increase healthcare professionals’ awareness of rising levels of antibiotic resistance in preparation for a multi-million antibiotic launch with a product team of 5 engineers, UX/UI designers and researchers

  • Partnered with UX designers to conduct over 50 user research and prototype testing interviews which helped understand the needs and preferences of our target users in two continents

  • Onboarded and partnered with a specialist agency to develop the brand identity for the product

  • Collaborated with stakeholders in R&D, commercial, marketing and legal to launch the minimum viable product internally

  • Provided clarity and focus by building the go to market strategy, product roadmap, OKRs, success metrics and product backlog
